Robert Joseph Gilmore

A Mass of Christian Burial for Robert Joseph Gilmore of Watertown will be celebrated on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 10:00 AM in the Church of St. Luke, 132 Lexington Street, Belmont.

Robert was born in Boston to the late Joseph M. Gilmore and Margaret Mary (McCabe) Gilmore. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the age of 77.

A graduate of Watertown High School in 1966 and later Boston College in 1972. A life long resident of Watertown, Bob was a true “townie”.  He enjoyed subs at Joe’s Variety (turkey club or meatball), watching the game at Fit-Zs, morning donuts at Linda’s Donuts, grocery shopping at Francis Food-mart, and walking his dog at Waverley Oaks. He had a lifelong appreciation for railroad pocket watches, classic cars, history, black & white films (especially Westerns) and he was a devoted fan of his favorite teams—the Boston Celtics, New England Patriots, and Boston Bruins. And always followed Boston College Football and Hockey (he had no interest in other college sports, just Boston College of course!). Bob was a proud member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors (NAWCC) and enjoyed restoring and collecting pocket watches with his childhood friend Don Guzzetti.

Robert was the beloved husband of Kathleen “Kathy” (McGonagle) Gilmore, and the devoted father of Kristen Gilmore and her fiancé, Jeffrey Rodrigues. He was the dear brother of William “Bill” Gilmore.

Funeral services will begin at the MacDonald Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home, 270 Main Street, Watertown, on Friday, February 13, at 9:00 AM, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at the Church of St. Luke. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Watertown.

A celebration of life will be held from 12 Noon to 2 PM in the parish hall of St. Luke Church, 132 Lexington St. Belmont immediately following the burial.
