A Mass of Christian Burial for Rev. Charles E Salamone will be held on Wednesday May 1, 2024, at 11 AM in St. Patrick Church, Watertown.
Rev. Salamone was born in Boston to the late Charles A. & Livia T. (Imbrogna) Salamone. He passed away on April 24th, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was 77.
Rev. Salamone grew up in Jamaica Plain and was a proud graduate of Cathedral High School in Boston. After high school he entered St. John’s Seminary in Brighton.
He was ordained as an Archdiocese of Boston Roman Catholic Priest on December 7, 1975, at the Holy Ghost Church in Whitman. Rev. Salamone served at St. Patrick Church in Stoneham, St. Francis Cabrini in Scituate, St. Clare in Braintree, and St. Agatha in Milton, before being appointed Priest Chaplain at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Brighton, where he served for over 25 years.
He served as Senior Priest in Retirement at Sacred Heart Parish in Watertown until his health declined. He recently moved into the Regina Cleri Residences for retired priests of the Archdiocese of Boston, where he passed away.
Father Salamone dedicated his life to serving his parishioners, communities, and the patients & staff of St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, great uncle and incredible friend to his fellow priest, Rev. Allan Butler. He was proud and blessed to administer all the sacraments to his two nieces, three great-nieces, and one nephew.
He was the beloved son of the late Charles A. & Livia T. (Imbrogna) Salamone. Loving brother of Sheila A. Salamone, Patricia M. Salamone both of Chestnut Hill and the late Janet M. Rush & her husband late Martin J. Rush, III. Loving uncle of Robyn O’Neil & her husband Kevin and Rhonda Sidhom & her husband Nader. Caring great uncle of Ella, Mia, Brooke, & Dillon. A visitation will take place in the Church of St. Patrick, 212 Main St. Watertown on Wednesday May 1, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 11 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM. All are invited to attend. Interment Hanover Center Cemetery.
